Fear of Changes.

One of the stories that Faulkner wrote  was "A rose for Emily". In this story we can see a lot of the classic south, with slaves and aristocratics, but  we can also realize that Industrialism arrived  with all its power. The world was changing, and it  will continiu to do so. However, as human as we are, we avoid changes, we like the present to be as the past was, "Todo tiempo pasado fue mejor", we like the way things were; things were easier, simpler, everyone was happier.

This story is a truthful reflexion of who we are in real life, we are so afraid of how life can be if it changes that we refuses to go with the flow as some say. And in the end those how did not embraced the new world, died with their old one. Nevertheless the past has different ways to be present in our lives, an example of these are the museums, or in this case, Emily´s house. The town worship her and what she represented, all the glory of old times, we appreciate the past onces it has already past, not before.

Maybe someday humans will learn how to appreciate things while they still have the opportunity and not after when the time has pass.

  1. I believe all humans like to spend some time in our personal bubble, our comfort zone in which we can be ourselves and avoid the rest of the people. In the case of Emily, se expands her bubble to her house and to some people, but as things and people do not last forever, we need to make a balance between our bubble and the real world. No one says it is a bad thing to be alone and live the way we want for a while, the problems arise when we are incapable of interacting with the real world. W e have to take into account both sides and make everything clear, in our minds and in our real life.

  2. I totally agree with Samantha's idea about the personal bubble, it is true that we like living in our "comfort zone"; however it not easy to get out of that place. Usually, people that live in it are used to live making a minimum effort for the things they want, but doing nothing about it.

What it is needed to get out of this bubble? Support from others, intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, a real desire to change, to dream about the future, but do something in the process, also, to be coraugeous and dermined.

It is a battle inside of our minds that we all have to fight in order to achive our goals.

I would like to share a video that explains this concept of "comfort zone" and delivers a message about the future and how important is to trust in ourselves. :D
