What is the real Africa?

Before reading Things Fall Apart I didn't know what description of Africa I was going to find, first, because it was written in a certain period and it is set in another period, second, because television, documentaries, internet, and mass media in general have shown us a different side of Africa, and if you think, we got to the point in which we don't actually know how it really is, how it was and how it has evolved.

What do we know about Africa? is it the continent of starving children helped by non-governmental organizations? is it the place of the wildlife safaris or witchcraft and shrunken heads? or the land of overcrowded ferry boats and civil wars in every country?

I think that we need to pay attention to what we have heard about it, to be careful about our previous knowledge before reading a book because maybe what we could find can be disappointing, or on the contrary more exciting than we could imagine. So I repeat,

WHAT IS THE REAL AFRICA?

 Wars, prostitution and death?

 Beautiful animals?

Sacrifice, demons and witches?
